Motorcycling is as much a mental game as it is a physical one. We talk a lot about T-CLOCS and gear, but how often do we check our headspace?
Taking sixty seconds before you pull out of the driveway to say a prayer—or set an intention—can be the difference between a reactive, high-stress ride and a smooth, soulful journey. It reminds us that while we love the machine, the people waiting for us at home matter more.
Here is a general Rider’s Prayer you can use, adapt, or keep on a sticky note in your helmet bag.
The Rider’s Prayer
Divine Protector (or Almighty God),
As I swing my leg over this machine, I ask for Your presence on the road ahead.
For my Focus: Grant me sharp eyes to see the hazards and a clear mind to react with wisdom. Let my hands be steady and my judgment sound.
For my Temper: Grant me the gift of patience. When the traffic is heavy and others are distracted, take the heat from my heart. Let there be no room for road rage in my helmet—only forgiveness for those who do not see me.
For my Fellowship: Watch over the brothers and sisters riding at my side today. Keep our formation tight and our spirits high. Let us look out for one another as we share the wind.
For my Family: Remind me of the faces waiting for me at the end of the day. Let the thought of them be my speed limiter and my reason for caution.
For the Road: Bless the tires, the brakes, and the engine. May the pavement be dry, the curves be smooth, and the journey be filled with wonder.
Keep me upright, keep me visible, and bring me home to those I love.
Amen.
